A steel under-tray tool box is a lockable storage box mounted underneath the tray of a ute or truck. It provides secure storage for tools, recovery gear, spare parts, and work equipment without taking up valuable tray space.
Because the toolbox sits beneath the tray, it allows tradespeople and vehicle owners to maximise storage while keeping their main cargo area clear. Under tray drawers are commonly used on work utes, service vehicles, and touring rigs where organised storage is essential.
Most ute under-tray drawers are made from aluminium, which offers strong protection while remaining lightweight and resistant to rust.
When selecting an under-tray toolbox, consider the following factors to ensure the best fit for your vehicle and storage needs.
Measure the available mounting space beneath your tray to determine the correct toolbox size.
Different door designs offer different advantages, including:
Consider the types of equipment you need to store. Larger under-tray drawers work well for bulky tools, while smaller boxes suit spare parts and accessories.
Look for reinforced locking systems and tamper-resistant hinges to protect valuable tools.
Work vehicles in Australia face harsh environments, including dust, heat, heavy rain, and rough roads. Under-tray tool boxes need to be built tough enough to handle these conditions every day.
